After we eagerly awaited the doors to the pits to open up, we unbagged Yoshimi and started attaching our elevator, turret, as well as dressing her up in her beautiful lexan skin! At the end of the day we had a little time left for practice matches, and we started the long process of camera, turret, and connection calibration.

On Friday we spent more time on the field. By the end of the day we got all of our connection issues worked out, but unfortunately we blew half of one of our drive jaguars and could not turn in one direction, which limited our ability to collect balls. We quickly fixed it and had it ready to go for the Saturday matches.

The first awards ceremony was that night, and we won both the imagery and the website award! None of the members will ever forget the great feeling of running down to the field to high five all the judges and referees.

That night we also had a pool and dinner party with another FRC team, Purple Plasma 2403. The night was full of laughter, dodgeball, whirlpools, and many other fun and memorable times.

We all knew that Saturday was our time to shine. All of our matches went smoothly without any major problems on our part. Though we weren’t ranked in the top 8, we made it to the quarterfinals on an alliance with Project Neo 1164 and the Mecha Knights 996. Unfortunately after two long and hard fought matches, the opposing alliance had claimed victory. But we kept our spirits up and had just as much fun cheering other teams on and watching the exciting finals!

The awards ceremony that night was a nice conclusion to the event, and thanks to the Roboknights for giving us that wonderful box of cookies! We finished with a great dinner to wrap up the weekend.

We’re all looking for Las Vegas next week, and we hope to bring back good news!

We did not win, but we thought we would share this anyways

We did not win, but we thought we would share this anyways

first-ers:

We welded the additional pieces for the extra bearings

We finished painting the bumpers

Programmers finished making the wiring all pretty and ran more testing

We re-attached the collectors

We figured out what we want to keep as part of our 30 pounds

We finished everything for our presentation and pep assemblies tomorrow

We made sure everything is functioning and is ready to go for our pep assembly and presentations tomorrow. That way we can bag the robot right after.

ONE MORE DAY GUYS!! We have 4 of 8 sides painted

We cut and milled the mounts for the extra bearings for the turret

We made a vibration isolator for the camera mount

We ordered LEDs

We finished most of the Bill of Materials

Drivers practiced more

We finished and sent out our newsletter

Programmers re-programmed the aiming software to rotate the camera directly on the turret directly rather then the servos

We turned down more collector end caps on the lathe

Main Achievement: Programmers also adapted the shooter aiming code to use motor pulsing for fine control

Duel in the Desert

Duel in the Desert

Our new shirts!

Our new shirts!

Day 43

We went to Duel in the Desert and learned the following things:

Our turret pops off so we need to add more support for that.

We need a current control for the collector motors and other motors

We need a better camera mount(do we need a tilt?)

We need to improve limit switches

We packed for Duel in the Desert!

We finished all the mounts for the bumpers

We tested the shooter and figured out the angle we want to have it and then welded it

We covered another bumper in fabric

We finished our camera mount(?)

We attached and wired the limit switches

We want to make a ball guide for the elevator
